This article appeared in Novartis Life of November 1999 and describes the efforts
of the owner of Epanvilliers to restore his castle whenever possible by the
utilization of old materials. This method allows to restore this historic monument
in the spirit of the 18 th century. At the same time this is a contribution
to sustainable development. By coming back to soft restoration methods and by
reusing materials, as it was current in past centuries, we can truly contribute
to the protection of the environment. We must stop to waste materials now!
To give you an examples of soft restoration techniques I offer you here free courses
in wood working and in masonry using old techniques and natural materials:
COURSE#1 - BLOCK CONSTRUCTION OF DOOR FRAMES
COURSE#2 - INSTALLATION OF DOORS AND MASONRY
COURSE#3 - RESTORATION OF DRY-WALLS USING FIELD STONES AND LIME
